Già 4 anni - Already 4 years!!!

Il tempo vola ed è incredibile che siano passati già 4 anni. Eppure sì, era esattamente il 31 marzo del 2012 quando abbiamo iniziato il nostro studio biblico in casa, ad Ostia, vicino Roma.

Ostia è dove sono cresciuto e dove ho vissuto gran parte della mia vita, da quando i miei genitori si sono trasferiti lì, nel 1980. Dio mi ha portato lontano per diversi anni, in altre zone intorno a Roma, ma poi sono tornato. Non era mia intenzione iniziare qualcosa lì, ma il Signore ha mi ha convinto che era il momento di aprire la mia casa per l'insegnamento della Parola.

E' successo molto semplicemente. Il mio pastore Brent Harrell ed io ci siamo resi conto che diverse persone della nostra chiesa di Calvary Chapel Roma, che è dall'altra parte della città, vivevano nella nostra zona, e quindi ci è sembrato naturale avere una riunione infrasettimanale appositamente per loro. Così abbiamo iniziato.

Due anni dopo ci siamo trasferiti nel quatiere di Acilia, a circa 10 km di distanza, e di conseguenza anche lo studio biblico è stato spostato. In realtà molti di noi vivono proprio qui e non è stato un grande trauma, quanto piuttosto un vantaggio per loro.

Due parole sulla nostra zona. Roma è una grande città e i quartieri a sud e sul litorale sono molto popolati. Intorno a noi c'è un mare di centinaia di migliaia di persone che non hanno un rapporto personale di fede con Dio, non sono nate di nuovo e stanno andando all'inferno (come nel resto dell'Italia). Ci sono poche chiese che predicano il Vangelo e insegnano la Parola in semplicità, e sono abbastanza piccole. Questo per dire che si tratta di un campo di missione vastissimo.

Sappiamo che Dio ci ha voluto qui, e aspettiamo di vedere cosa farà.

Already 4 years!!!

Time flies and it's unbelievable that already 4 years have passed by. But yes, it was exactly the 31st of March of 2012 when we started our Home Bible Study at Ostia, near Rome.

Ostia is where I grew up and lived most of my life, since my parents moved there in 1980. God brought me away for several years, in other areas around Rome, but then I was back here. It wasn't my intention to start something there, but the Lord convinced me that it was time to open my house to the teaching of the Word of God.

It happened in a very simple way. My pastor Brent Harrell and I just realized the some people of our church, Calvary Chapel Rome (which is located on the other side of the city), lived around here, and it seemed natural to start a mid-week meeting just for them. So we started.

After two years I moved with my family in Acilia, about 10 kilometers from Ostia, and of course also the Bible Study has been moved. Actually many of us live right here and it wasn't a big problem for them, but a benefit.

Few words about our area. Rome is a big city and the districts which are at the south and close to the beach are very populated. Around us there is an ocean of hundreds of thousand of people who don't have a personal relationship with God in faith, are not born again and are going to hell (like in the rest of Italy). There are very few churches that preach the Gospel and teach the Word in simplicity, and are small. All to say that this is a huge mission field.

We know that God want us here, and we can't wait to see what He's going to do.
